The project is developed in collaboration with three European higher education institutions, Escola Superior de Enfermagem de Coimbra (ESEnfC), Erasmushogeschool Brussel (EhB) and Public University of Navarra (UPNA) and the Industrial Augmented Reality (iAR) company. The project design pays special attention to those relevant aspects that will facilitate its integration in other European higher education institutions, which will strengthen the role of higher education at regional and European level.

Universidad Pública de Navarra, UPNA

Spanish public University founded in 1987, it has 18 degrees, 2 double degrees and 29 master’s degrees, which are distributed in four Faculties and two Technical Schools. It has a number of students over 8000. In research there is a census of 106 research groups of which 885 researchers are part.

Since its foundation, internationalization has been one of UPNA’s transversal lines. It has been awarded as “International Campus of Excellence CEI-2010” and is part of the Transnational Campus “EBRoS WESTERN PYRENEES” (

In recent years, UPNA has participated in several European Projects in the field of Health: ALFA FUNDA NURSING (2011-2014), Higher Education for professionalization of nursing assistant staff, VIVIFRAIL (2015-2016), Promote physical exercise in frail elderly, LASALUS (2015-2018): Professionalization on Result-based Healthcare Management through Distance Education and Simulation-Based Training, PETHRA (2015-2017): Physiotherapy E-Training Re-Habilitation and MED-HEALTH (2015-2018): The Mediterranean Health Alliance.

Escola Superior de Enfermagem de Coimbra, ESEnfC

Portuguese public Institution of Higher Education that has about 2000 enrolled students and 175 teachers. She has a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing and a Master’s Degree in Medical-Surgical Nursing, Mental Health, Rehabilitation Nursing, Pediatric Nursing, Community Nursing, and a Master’s Degree in Management.

Since 2007, it has a Simulation Center with different types of simulators (low, medium and high fidelity), recent health care equipment and the ability to record simulated scenarios. ESEnfC has a recognized team of teachers with strong and solid competencies in the development of clinical simulation in the training of Health Sciences professionals, as well as in the development of tools for use, teaching methodology, training of simulation instructors and research in this field.

The ESEnfC team tries to systematize scientific evidence, the production of teaching materials, tests and validation, the implementation of simulated clinical experiences at different graduation levels; and the analysis of the benefits of educators / students, through simulation.

Erasmus Hogeschool Brussel, EhB

Belgian Higher Education Institution characterized by a student-oriented curriculum that favors continuous exchange between teacher and student, with special emphasis on creating opportunities for the development, use and application of educational methodologies that are innovative and attractive to favor the student learning.

EhB’s vision regarding health education (nursing, midwifery, nutrition and dietetics) takes into account the particular Belgian scenario and offers a solid social network for students, helping them to acquire specific skills in different contexts (hospitals, health centers primary, independent practice, international practice, etc). They have developed numerous innovations in the health campus, with the aim of offering quality education, such as the creation of the Brussels Integrated Care Simulation Center (BIC), a pioneering simulation center, as well as the open practice classroom (24h) so that students students have opportunities to practice clinical skills according to their needs.

One of the priorities for the institution is the development of new learning opportunities (technical and non-technical skills, e-learning, internationalization “at home” and “abroad”, use of virtual reality, development of apps in the field of health education) fields in which teachers are immersed.

Industrial Augmented Reality, iAR

Company specialized in software development with Augmented Reality, Virtual Reality and Artificial Vision. Since 2015 it has developed applications in the Android, iOS and Windows operating systems for all types of mobile devices (phones, tablets, glasses, helmets). The founding partners have more than 8 years of experience in their specialized areas (augmented reality, process improvement, and automation and control).

Since its inception, the company has developed software projects with augmented reality for companies such as Volkswagen, Seat, Acciona Energía, Enedis, Comau, etc… These projects have been based on the concept of looking at a team and showing all available information by means of Augmented Reality.
